  • What is a parenting coach?

As a parenting coach I provide guidance, tools and strategies, education and accountability, supporting caregivers to create their own empowered parenting model. I am not here to fix, prescribe or diagnose.

I help parents and caregivers build the relationship with their kids that lets them feel their best.

  • What is your methodology?

My methodology is parent-centric, which means that I focus on skill building, coaching and behavior-change strategies for adult caregivers and parents.

These are grounded in evidence-based frameworks of non-violent communication (NVC), child development, emotional intelligence, attachment science, nervous system regulation and values-led leadership.

My coaching frameworks include generational pattern coaching, somatic coaching, emotional regulation coaching, and more.  These are applied to a coaching model that supports parents to successfully break through their limiting beliefs, assumptions and conditioned reactive behavior.

The strategies I use and teach allow parents to successfully shift out of the dominant (power over) or permissive (power under) paradigms of parenting, which create disconnection, resentment and rebellion—to a relational, empowered paradigm of parenting which restores connection, trust and mutual respect.

  • What results can I expect from working with you?

    1. You can expect to be able to reflect back on the patterns that were at play when you were a child, specifically through the lens of differentiation between the power-over paradigm—of control, conditional love, manipulation, punishments, and demands—and how to make the shift to empowered parenting. You’ll notice the ways you carry patterns from your own family of origin dynamics into your parenting today. You’ll discover the steps to learning a new way to parent—one that prioritizes the humanity of every being in the family, relationships, and true unconditional love and acceptance.

    2. You’ll build skills based on interpersonal neurobiology. You’ll learn how to evolve your own personal narrative and develop new access to emotional regulation, conscious communication and empathy.

    3. You’ll learn how to communicate with compassion and patience, leaving behind projection, shame, blame and trigger, You will discover how to make the shift to a more connected way to communicate, while being able to set boundaries that give children safety, structure and guidance without shame or manipulation.

    4. You’ll be supported through any fear or resistance to letting go of power-over and power-under strategies. We explore healthy aggression, grief, fear, and JOY, giving families access to peace and connection in their homes.

  • Do you work with parents of kids of a certain age?

I work with parents and caregivers with kids of all ages. Since we focus on the parent, parents of children of all ages - infant through adult - can find enormous benefit in this work.

  • Can I do just one or two sessions?

I really relate to the desire to have a quick fix for the struggles you're facing! The most effective way for me to support parents and caregivers to shift patterns and make meaningful and lasting change is to offer packages of private sessions. Since my methodology is not oriented around behavior modification of children but rather on the caregiver's deep-rooted patterns, we will use  multiple sessions to uncover and work through the challenges you're facing.

While the arc of the multiple sessions is critical, each session you will come away with tangible tools for your parenting toolkit that you can start implementing right away to increase connection, shift conflicts and feel more at ease in your family life.

  • What happens during each session?

Each session is tailored to your need. I hold a framework for each call that starts with grounding together and I'll ask you what's coming up for you in your parenting. From there each session’s agenda will unfold based on your needs and the struggles you’re facing. We'll create a plan for how to make shifts that will positively impact the areas in your parenting you need help with, and you'll always come away with some tangible tools and strategies you can bring into your daily life.

  • What happens in between calls?

The time in between weekly sessions is your chance to put into practice the work that we do in our sessions.

If you choose to enroll in the Empowered Parent course, the majority of education happens between sessions through the extra materials in the online portal that is included with your signup.  Our weekly private sessions are personalized deep dives into particular challenges you're facing, and an opportunity to better understand and practice the skills and concpets from the week's coursework.

  • How does the sliding scale work?

I offer a sliding scale so that more people can access parent coaching with me. I recognize it's a significant expense for many families.

You place yourself on the sliding scale - I won't ask you to explain or justify where you place yourself. I do ask that you make an honest assessment of your financial situation. Here is a tool to help you place yourself on the sliding scale.

Accessibility is important to me - if you aren't able to afford coaching with me at the lowest level of the sliding scale, please reach out to me through the contact form on this website.

  • Are you the right coach for me?

My coaching is about relationship, growth and reflection. If we work together, we'll take out the looking glass and uncover the depths of your patterns.

Our work together is a collaboration. I can't fix you or your children because you're not broken. I'm here to help you grow, to teach you skills, to witness your heart opening.

I ask that you come to each session with a willingness to learn about yourself and your children.

All sessions I facilitate are anti-racist, LBGTQ+ affirming and liberation oriented.

If you decide not to work with me I'll be happy to recommend other great coaches.

  • Where do we meet?

Right now sessions are held virtually.  For updates on future sessions and groups held in person in Kingston, NY, sign up for my newsletter updates.
